Over $1.6 million in counterfeit Ray Ban sunglasses seized

One of the first counterfeit products I bought was a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. I bought them on eBay for $30. Everything about them looked real. When used, they were horrible. The lenses were hard to see out of, and they were very uncomfortable.

On July 23, the U.S. Customs and Border seized 377 cartons from a shipment at the Port of Savannah.  The total value of the sunglasses were at $1,619,550(MSRP). The sunglasses were counterfeit and infringed on Ray Ban’s trademarks. The officers found the shipment during a random search for containers that just arrived at the port.

The interesting thing is eBay is still full of counterfeit Ray Bans, even though it has been almost 3 years since I bought my pair on there. Here is a simple search on eBay.

Not only that, but there are thousands of websites selling ‘replicas’, which means counterfeit.  While looking for a default image for this post, Google Images first ten pictures returned this website:
